Pitfall (1948) – By Jason S. Lockard

Film noirs are a lost art if you ask me! So the classic ones are gems! I recently received Film Chest Media Group’s DVD release of 1948’s film noir classic Pitfall, a film which I have never seen; so needless to say I was excited to see it!

Pitfall was directed by André De Toth and based on a novel of the same name by Jay Dratler. The film follows John Forbes (Dick Powell), a family man bored with his 9 to 5 job at an insurance company. Forbes craves excitement in his day-to-day life. He wish comes true when he begins investigating an embezzlement case and meets model Mona Stevens. Forbes begins to fall for the seductive Stevens and falsifies reports and he find himself in a downward spiral till that he may never recover from! Pitfall is one of those films that you can’t easily forget!

The DVD doesn’t have any bonus features which is a bit of a shame, but your getting an excellent print of this film noir classic and the DVD menus is easy to access. So for classic film fanatics like me, that is enough to make this one an add to the collection!

So if you love film noirs and Dick Powell as much as I do I highly suggest you head over to www.FilmChestMediaGroup.com and pick up your copy today.
