Pro Wrestlers Vs. Zombies (2014) – By Brian Morton

I’m going to out myself here, I’m a big wrestling fan. I can’t tell you why, but you’ll find me watching it damn near every chance I get! So, when I heard about a movie called Pro Wrestlers Vs. Zombies, I just couldn’t help myself!

The story here is pretty self explanatory, a group of pro wrestlers, including ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper, ‘The Franchise’ Shane Douglas, Matt Hardy, ‘Hacksaw’ Jim Duggan, Kurt Angle and others, are hired to put on a wrestling show at a prison. Little do they know that the promoter has set the whole thing up to get revenge on Douglas, who he believes killed his brother in the wrestling ring. But, he’s not just going to get revenge, he’s going to raise the living dead to do it! So, now we’re trapped in a prison filled with the living dead and we’ve got to fight our way out…luckily, fighting is exactly what we do!

The real fun of this movie is seeing the wrestlers out of their element (sort of), the ‘star’ of the show is Shane Douglas, as he’s the focal point of the revenge plot, but the real star here is Roddy Piper, who shows us that he can actually act and do it pretty damn well! And, while this is clearly a low budget affair, there’s still some fun in it, you can tell that no one here was miserable doing this movie, the sense of fun is right there on the screen…which makes up for any short-comings that the movie itself has.

I’m giving Pro Wrestlers Vs. Zombies 3 out of 4 cigars, is it the perfect movie? Not really, but will you have some fun watching it? No doubt! If you’re a wrestling fan, then do yourself a favor and head over to right now and grab a copy of this, then, turn the lights down and enjoy an hour and a half of great entertainment!
