Rogue Cinema Sleepover Girl – April 2010
All about Kirsten:
Location: North Florida
Some of my favorite things: Fancy vintage jewelry, good music, 80’s horror films, Star Wars
Most people would be surprised to know that I: I Can’t run long distances, so I’d be the first to die in a horror film. Either that, or I have become a collector of original Star Wars posters. I currently have an original Empire Strikes Back poster, an original A New Hope poster from the VHS release, and two advertising panels from A Phantom Menace release.
Hobbies / special skills: Playing drums, writing, being organized (onset only), watching movies (bad and good)
Number of years acting / modeling: 8 years acting (although I’ve given it up to promote other actors now), 3 years working behind the scenes in film.
Favorite genre(s) and or film(s): Horror Films/ Those uber complicated dramas that make you think way too hard. I’ve also recently taken to foreign films with decent storylines. I have fallen in love with Chan-Wook Park’s “vengeance trilogy” (“Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance”, “Oldboy”, and “Lady Vengeance”) for his stand out cinematography, his thrilling story lines, and his multi-dimensional characters.
Acting / crew gigs that I’m the most proud of: My adaptation of Sarah Kane’s last play, “4.48 Psychosis” was incredibly fun- I was able to really throw myself into the character of a woman on her last nerve with no one to turn to; it was a far stretch, but very rewarding. Also, being one of the “core four” crew members on “Chiaroscuro, Baby” was great fun- I met so many incredible actors and talented people.
What I look for in a potential acting or modeling job: Mostly, if its going to be a great experience. I enjoy challenges- like projects that have a lot of potential but just need that final organizational touch. I also try to make sure that the projects I work on are more of a passion project- its always more enjoyable when everyone loves what they’re doing.
Kirsten was brought up in an arts loving environment, and has really taken that to heart. As a child, she danced, acted, and sang in school, the community, and at home. As a teen, she began to pursue her acting dream, and continued it into college, where she then started working behind the scenes as well. She currently works as a house manager and occasional stage hand for a performing arts center.
She has always love film, and broke into the world of independent filmmaking by answering an online ad looking for an organized person to serve as a script supervisor. She became one of the “core four” crew members on “Chiaroscuro, Baby”- a stylized drama set in her current home town of Jacksonville. She learned and refined skills in casting and production management under director Anthony Kilburn’s lead, and now works alongside several different independent filmmakers in the North Florida area.
Kirsten is currently working with Blue Llama Studios for their upcoming feature film which is in production, as well as with Chance in Hell Productions for their upcoming feature film, which is slated to go into production in late 2010.
