Rogue Cinema Sleepover Girl – August 2013
Stephanie van Rijn
All about Stephanie:
Location: Montreal, Canada
Some of my favorite things: Acting, writing, poetry, music, photography, movies, video games, Dungeon&Dragons, comic books, England, History….it’s hard to name it all!
Most people would be surprised to know that I: am half Dutch and Native American and that I’m a pretty Hardcore Trekkie.
Hobbies / special skills: All sorts of dancing, but mostly belly-dancing, ballet and Venetian Waltz. Writing since I was 14, and of course acting classes. On the more physical side (always helpful for movies) there’s rifling for several years, knife fighting, kick-boxing, karate and so on! I’m a pretty active person. I also play bass guitar and drums and I speak several languages.
Number of years acting / modeling: Acting since I was a little girl but more since age 7 and modeling started when I was around 18 years old.
Favorite genre(s) and or film(s): Drama, Fantasy!!, Science Fiction…anything that has to do with anti-heroes and villains is also fascinating for me to watch.
Acting / modeling gigs that I’m the most proud of: I would say getting my first part in an American feature film that I’m shooting at the moment called ”The Great Art of Being”, that permitted me to get more contracts outside of my own country and meet amazing people! I feel very grateful, I know how hard it is for a non-American actress who doesn’t speak English as a first language to get a lead in a feature film over there.
What I look for in a potential acting or modeling job: The more a character differs from me or what I could experience in my own life is always the best. The main reason why I act is also to be able to live something extreme as far as personality goes. I adore a good challenge!
Stephanie van Rijn was born on December 26, 1989. At the age of 4 she decided to become an actress after watching Star Wars, an event that led her to participate in local TV shows and plays with small cameos in Montreal. Her passion and dedication allowed her to write 3 novels by the time she was 18 years old, one of which would later become the base story for a screenplay she would start working on later in 2012. On May 2012 she went to New York to work in the Student short film "Ytinas" and then went to work on the script and development for the independent project "The Mind Game" and ”The Great Art of Being”
As a model, Stephanie was a contestant for Miss Canada 2012, where she managed to get to the final stages of the event. She’s also shot with several photographers including Andrea Hausmann, Caroline Lafond and Lexa One.
