Misty Layne – December 2012

Rogue Cinema Sleepover Girl – December 2012

Misty Layne

All about Misty:

Name: Misty Layne

Age: Older than I look.

Location: Southern belle turned Jersey girl.

Some of my favorite things: Horror movies, atrociously ridiculously bad movies, books, Doctor Who, Freddy Krueger, random dance parties and Jan Svankmajer.

Most people would be surprised to know that I: keep the complete works of Shakespeare in my car at all times – you’d be surprised how often this comes in handy…

Hobbies / special skills: Playing piano, reading voraciously, writing novels and poetry and short stories and plays and collecting records. I also run a movie review site and write for Rogue.

Number of years acting / modeling: 22

Favorite genre(s) and or film(s): horror, B and below, and things that move me. I have a love of the obscure and abstract.

Acting / modeling gigs that I’m the most proud of: I’m proud of everything I’ve ever worked on but I’m very excited about the upcoming web series that I’m writing, producing, co-directing and acting in.

What I look for in a potential acting or modeling job: Something I believe in, a script I can get behind, and creativity.

I recently got back into acting this year after a six year hiatus that involved a bunch of office jobs and moving around the country. At this point, I’m doing mostly theatre with the occasional web series thrown in (upcoming projects include “The Point” and the as yet untitled web series I created). Past projects have included “The Sentinel Chronicles” (a sci-fi web series) L.A.F.F.S. t.v. with the improve/sketch troupe Nuns in Straitjackets and various theatre roles: everything from Juliet in “Romeo & Juliet” to Shelby in “Steel Magnolias”. I’m always on the lookout for new projects!

Equally important to me is writing. I have a movie site called Cinema Schminema where I review mostly B and below movies with an emphasis on horror. As a result of this, I’ve done several guest posts on others’ sites, co-hosted Nostalgiathon 2012, am co-writing a horror movie script and ended up writing for Rogue Cinema. J I’m currently editing my first novel and have another in the works, as well as a book on movies tentatively entitled “What I Learned From Netflix” and am working on my first stage play, working title “Perceptions”.
