Rogue Cinema Sleepover Girl – July 2013

Kayla Crance

All about Kayla:

Name: Kayla Crance

Age: Old soul in a young body

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Some of my favorite things: Food. Cheese. Acting. Directing. A good book. Writing. Laughter/Laughing. Coffee. Snow cones. Random adventures. Road trips. Nature. Good ol’ fashioned cookouts. Music.

Most people would be surprised to know that I: I can have quite a dirty sense of humor…

Hobbies / special skills: I have many skills…I have my motorcycle license and enjoy a good motorcycle ride. I started training in Muay Thai (martial art) and am hooked! I love it! I also briefly trained in Krav Maga; I enjoy learning and practicing any and all martial arts. I also briefly trained in professional wrestling (fun story). Needless to say, I’m not afraid to do my own stunts or be a part of the action. I played sports growing up so I enjoy basketball and softball. Theatre (obviously). I like learning other languages and studied American Sign Language and Spanish in college. I enjoy volunteering for causes that I care about. I enjoy hiking and being outdoors, going to the beach, etc.

Number of years acting / modeling: I’ve been involved with theatre and acting since I was 9 years old.

Favorite genre(s) and or film(s): I love to laugh so I love comedy. But I also enjoy a good drama and good thriller as well. Oh, and action movies. Can’t forget action movies. And movie musicals too.

Acting / modeling gigs that I’m the most proud of: I am proud of all of them and do not regret any of them. I continue to learn and grow as an actor and person from every project I am a part of. But I really enjoyed both feature films East of Nowhere and Three Tears on Bloodstained Flesh.

What I look for in a potential acting or modeling job: I look for people that are just as passionate about what they are doing as I am and people that are enjoyable to be around. I also like material that challenges me and will be fun and interesting.

Bio: Kayla Crance grew up in the Midwest where she was actively involved in theatre for more than 15 years.  She fell in love with theatre and performing after appearing in her first show, leading her to major in theatre in college. Her involvement in theatre does not stop with appearing onstage; she has been involved in many aspects behind the scenes as well including lighting, sound, costume and makeup design, set design and construction, stage managing, and even directing. She also worked as a stage technician for two and a half years where she learned how to survive long days solely on beef jerky and Mountain Dew.

Despite her fairly petite frame, Kayla packs quite the punch–literally. She trains in Muay Thai and enjoys other martial arts as well; she even trained briefly in professional wrestling. She enjoys doing her own stunts when possible and has always wanted to appear in an action movie and put her martial arts training and tough side to the test. Along with her look, her unique personality and interests allow for great range and flexibility in terms of roles and characters she can portray and she is definitely not afraid to tackle the unusual or non-traditional roles and characters.

Kayla has a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology (which she believes will save her a lot of money on therapy one day…). Crance recently began exploring her interest in film and television, appearing in independent films such as East of Nowhere, Inferno: A Short Film, and Three Tears on Bloodstained Flesh before heading to Los Angeles to further pursue a career in acting. Kayla’s film and television ambitions are not limited to acting; she enjoys writing short films and screenplays and would eventually like to get around to directing and producing as well.
