Rogue Cinema Sleepover Girl – June 2012
All about Cynthia:
Location: Vancouver, BC but born in beautiful Guatemala
Some of my favorite things: I’m seriously addicted to traveling, chai lattes and having a Chapstick handy at all times. I’m obsessed with tennis, hockey (go Habs!), American football, formula 1 and my piano. I have a major sweet tooth, lemon meringue is my absolute favourite. Besides acting, I love to write and produce my own films.
Most people would be surprised to know that I: am a huge fan of all things rock, metal and industrial music… I listen to a lot of different types of music but that seems to be what I gravitate to most, and for some reason it always seems to surprise people…
Hobbies / special skills: I love languages, I speak English & Spanish fluently, and Italian & French conversationally. I also play music and make my own jewellery.
Number of years acting / modeling: I have a BFA in film production + theatre so I’ve been acting for awhile now but professionally it’s only been three years.
Favorite genre(s) and or film(s): I don’t really have a favourite genre but I love the work of Kubrick, Almodovar, Darren Aronofsky, Christopher Nolan, Tim Burton, Gus Van Sant and Hitchcock- who is my favourite filmmaker of all time.
Acting / modeling gigs that I’m the most proud of: I’ve been very fortunate to work with some amazingly talented directors. I did a commercial with Mark Pellington whose music video work I’ve admired since I was a teen (NIN, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, U2, among many others) it was such a great experience to be directed by him. Also, I played the part of a hit woman for a TV show and got to do a little stunt and a fight scene with Patrick Gallagher (Glee, True Blood) for a whole day, he’s a pretty strong guy so it was both a fun and intense day on set, I even shed a bit of blood… The next day, my knees were swelling so bad I could barely walk! The finished product went by in a flash and seemed super easy, of course hahaha!
What I look for in a potential acting or modeling job: Material I can really sink my teeth into is always the best. Overall, I just like to challenge myself – if I’m afraid of it, I gotta do it.

I remember reading this article about Meryl Streep, she always speaks with such candour and authenticity, which is also the way I feel about her work. This quote really spoke to me “I’m curious about other people. That’s the essence of my acting. I’m interested in what it would be like to be you.” I can only hope to work my butt off to be half as good an actress as she is – but one thing is for sure, I’ll die trying!
