Sherlock Holmes was probably the first crime fighter. He paved the way for Batman, The Green Hornet, The Shadow and other crime fighting heroes. Let’s take a brief look at the films included in this release.

Our Rating System:

*=You haven’t missed anything.

The Secret Weapon (1942) – Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson must protect a Swiss inventor of an advanced bomb sight from falling into German hands. ***

The Woman in Green (1945) – When young women turn up murdered, each with a finger severed off. Sherlock Holmes believes the killings to be part of a diabolical plot. ***

Terror by Night (1946) – When the fabled Star of Rhodesia diamond is stolen on a train and the son of its owner is murdered, Sherlock Holmes is on the case. ***

Prelude to Murder (1946) – Also known as Dressed to kill Sherlock Holmes sets out to discover why a trio of murderous villains are so desperate on getting their hands on inexpensive little music boxes. ***

This DVD not only includes the restored black and white versions, but the beautifully colorized versions of these mystery classics. Many film fanatics hate colorized films, but I say if it takes this to get people to go beyond Robert Downy Jr.’s version and pick up a copy of the classics. I say do it!

So if you love classic Sherlock Holmes or you want to uncover his classic adventures. You can’t get a better collection than this. I highly recommend you head over to or your local DVD provider and get your copy today.
