Star Trek: Flesh and Stone (2014) – By Jason S. Lockard

Star Trek is one of the most loved sci-fi brands around! Whether it’s the classic series, movies, spin-off or remakes, trekkies love everything Star Trek. Well, IDW Publishing has been releasing new adventures of Star Trek in comic book form and I got the extreme pleasure of reading one of the newest! Star Trek: Flesh and Stone.

The story follows a Starfleet medical conference where attendees are infected by a terrifying contagion. Beverly Crusher, Julian Bashir and Katherine Pulaski, ably assisted by the Doctor, race against time to find a cure. They soon find out the answer may be held in the past with Dr. Leonard McCoy, but can they find him in time to save these victims? You’ll have to read this issue to find out!

This amazing story is brought to us by writers Scott and David Tipton and artwork by Joe and Rob Sharp. When I first read about this issue I had my concerns of how this would come together! I am glad to say this issue is thrilling and will have trekkies loving it! The story is well written and the artwork brings six of your favorite Star Trek doctors together just like you see them on your TV/movie screens.

The colors are vibrant and the art work pops off the pages and the story flows just like an episode of your favorite Star Trek show. If you have never picked up one of IDW’s Star Trek books this is a great one to start with.

If you would like more information on this book or want to pick up a copy for yourself head over to and get a copy! You won’t regret it!
