Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 30th Anniversary Special (2014) – By Jason S. Lockard

It’s hard to believe its been 30 years since the world started loving the ‘heroes in a half shell’! It all started in 1984 with Mirage Studios and two men Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird and black and white gritty violent comic books that exploded into more comics, TV and movies. At the age of 6, I yelled Cowabunga along with my favorite teenage turtles; Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael. IDW Publishing decided to celebrate the 30th anniversary with this special anthology looking at the different interpretations of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles over the years.

This 30 anniversary special anthology is broken up into sections. Each section gives us a brief synopsis of the era and than a brand new comic story! While the stories aren’t spectacular they are there just to give us a snapshot into the past! As a special bonus in this collection is a pin-up gallery featuring artists who worked on the turtle team through the years. I truly loved this collection!

If you are a fan of the turtles like me and you have all the TV shows and movies. Well, than this is an automatic must-buy! It’s a history of TMNT in a beautiful book that your can display on your shelf! I highly recommend this book. It will have you screaming Cowabunga all over again!
