The Best of Abbott and Costello (1951-1954) – By Jason S. Lockard

Bud Abbott and Lou Costello were one of the most popular comic teams in film and TV history. I’m sure everybody knows their classic routine; "Who’s on First?"! Well Legend films has released a 3 disk set of some of The best of Abbott and Costello, and this reviewer is in seventh heaven to say the least.

In this 3 disk set the first 2 disks feature "The Funniest routines Vol. 1 and 2". Some of the funny stuff include the boys arguing about mustard on hot dogs. I know it doesn’t sound like much, but believe me it’s funny. The do their take on a classic vaudeville sketch "Niagara Falls" and features Errol Flynn. Lou tries to tell his version of "Jonah and the Whale" and Bud keeps interrupting him, driving Lou crazy. These are just a few of the funny skits from Volume 1, Volume 2 has more great stuff. Than the third disk features a newly colorized Christmas episode of The Colgate Comedy hour featuring the comedy team.

This DVD set is amazing! While I wish the funniest routines would have been colorized, it’s still Abbott and Costello at their funniest and best! The quality is pretty good considering these routines are over sixty years old. Than the bonus features include colorized commercials, trailers and Abbott and Costello’s classic Who’s on First has been colorized, so that is a plus!

So if your a fan of the legendary Abbott and Costello or if you want to discover what your grandparents or parents were talking about, you can’t find a better collection than this one. So I highly recommend you head over to or your local DVD provider and pick this one up. You won’t regret it!
