The Best of the 80s Volume 2: Southwest Championship Wrestling (2014) – By Jason S. Lockard

When you hear the word ‘wrestling’ most people think ‘sports entertainment’ not the Olympic sport. This sport made rock stars of men like Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair and The Rock. In the 80s wrestling or sports entertainment depending on which you prefer to say soared and one of those local promotions enjoying the benefits was Southwest Championship Wrestling. Now you can relive the glory days of wrestling with The second volume of the best of Southwest Championship Wrestling.

This DVD includes 22 matches featuring such stars as Ted Debiese, before he became The million dollar man, a young showstopper Shawn Michaels, former NFL star Ernie Ladd, The Ugandan Giant Kimala, Big Bubba (Tugboat, Typoon in WWF), Abdullah the Butcher, Bruiser Brody and Cheif Wahoo McDaniels who is pictured o the cover. All these and many more.

Unlike the first volume this collection doesn’t have hosts. The matches and interviews stand up on their own. One of my complains was that the producers included a tag team title contract signing, yet we never see the match. It kind of felt like this collection was just a hodgepodge thrown together.

All in all, this is still a nice collection of 22 matches, interviews and music videos from the heights of the wrestling. So if your a fan of old style wrestling of the 80’s and you own volume one you have to own volume two. So head over to and pick this one up.
