The Colony (2013) – By Jason S. Lockard

Post-apocalyptic movies are all the rage now! It seems like producers and directors are clamoring trying to find end of the world stories to tell. Sometime the stories are good! Most of the time the stories are mediocre at best.

The Colony from RLJ Entertainment is a story about Earth after a new ice age wreaks havoc. There are a small pockets of survivors who take shelter underground. One such group, is Colony #7 led by Briggs (Lawrence Fishburne). When they hear a distress signal from Colony #5 they decide to go find out what is happening! What they find is a little more than they bargained for! What is it? You’ll have to what the film to find out!

The Colony is an interesting post apocalyptic film, however it felt a little like a mish mash of The Thing and Alien. The action is intense and the production value is top notch, but I felt like the acting fell a little flat. The DVD includes a beautiful transfer of the film and a making of feature.

So if your a fan of post-apocalyptic films this one might be right up your ally! Head over to or your local DVD provider and get a copy for yourself today!
