The Convicted (2015) – By Loida D Garcia

Now this is how I like to end my night!  A little mafia style action!  From the very beginning I was hooked and in love with this film.  My only disappointment was that I didn’t get the chance to review this sooner in order to have interviewed Josh Mitchell, the director.

Everything about this movie was done right, everything.  From the opening title sequence to the very end.  Every so often I come across a film that I believe needs to be watched by all film makers and used as an example.  The Convicted is one of those films.

The look and feel of it was amazing, the color choices and the music selection was second to none.  This is how an artsy film is made!  That silent treatment during the title scene where you can only hear the music and the shots fired at the end was absolutely genius!  In only 10 short minutes this film managed to do what most fail to do in over an hour.

The acting, wow.  Every single actor in this film was amazing.  So natural in everything they did.  Just perfect.  Everything was so old school mafia in the most perfect of ways.  And that lounge singer, talk about the best casting choice!  Not only was her voice wonderful but the way the actress portrayed the character was natural and gave us the entire story with very little said.  Actually, that’s how I felt about all of the actors, every single one of them.  I would like to see this film go as far as possible and I am looking forward to watching it win many awards!

I just wish this was a feature length film!
