The Creature With the Atom Brain (1955) – By Jason S. Lockard

Before George Romero’s Night of the living dead, zombie’s were more or less mindless killing machines not the walking dead. One such film was The creature with the atom brain. This being the 60th anniversary of this sci-fi film Mill Creek Entertainment has released this on DVD.

The film follows a police doctor Chet Walker who is tracking down gangster Frank Buchanan. Sounds easy huh? Wrong because Frank has enliststed the services of ex-Nazi scientist Wilhelm Steigg to create zombies by resurrecting corpses through radiation in order to seek revenge on his enemies.

Fans of these old atomic age sci-fi films down take them to seriously and that’s what makes watching them so much fun. It’s hard to find a film from this age that I haven’t seen, but Mill Creek succeeded with this release! For me the fun factor in this film is off the charts. I really enjoyed it!

This film transfer looks amazing for a 60 year old film. The only downside is no bonus features, but for sci-fi fanatics the film will be enough! So if you love the old sci-fi atomic age movies as much as I do head over to and pick up a copy today!
