The Crow: City of Angels (1996) – By Jason S. Lockard

In 994 the world marveled at the graphic novel The Crow on the big screen! And the son of the legendary Bruce Lee, Brandon Lee took the reigns of Eric Draven. Now the original film varied much from the graphic novel, but the film was still really good. Although tragically Brandon Lee died on set, just a mere two years after this tragedy the studio released the sequel. Should they have left the great film stand alone, probably, but they didn’t and thus we have The Crow: City of Angels.

The Crow sequel follows the same path as the original! Ashe Corven (Vincent Perez) and his son Danny were killed when they stumbled across a pack of drug dealers murdering a fellow dealer. The dealers work for Los Angeles drug kingpin Judah Earl. The crow resurrects Ashe, so he can gain revenge and move on to the after life and rest. The only problem is Judah has found out if you kill the crow the man become vulnerable. Will Ashe gain the revenge he seeks or will Judah eliminate the his tormentor? You’ll have to watch the film to find out!

Many feel that the film follows the original to closely, but if you read the graphic novels that’s the story someone who has been killed and the crow guides them to gain revenge. This was done in the graphic novels different characters gaining revenge.

Now as far the DVD goes Echo Bridge made a bare-bones DVD of this film! The video and audio are good, the DVD menu is easy to access, but there aren’t any bonus features whatsoever, which would have enhanced this release.
