The Pact (2013) – By Brian Morton

If you’re a guy, then you know that, at some point in your life, you’ve sworn off of women. We’ve all done it, usually after a bad break up or some other heartbreaking event, you swear you’re done with women and that lasts…until the next woman comes along. Well, a new movie by Matt Toronto called The Pact, tells a story of two brothers who make exactly that promise to each other.

Grant and Ancel have both just broken up with women, one with a longtime girlfriend, the other with his wife and the two of them, in a liquor fueled moment, swear a blook oath to have nothing to do with women for a year…and even seal the deal with blood. As the year moves on, Ancel tries again and again to break the pact, only to be thwarted by fate, while Grant embraces the pact and finds that he’s suddenly irresistable to women! In the end, both men learn something about themselves, about each other and about the women who they discover around them.

The fun of this movie is that, despite being called a ‘bromance’, it’s just a great, fun movie about the relationships between men and women. The acting is terrific and very believable and the ending makes you want to kiss the woman in your life! While it’s not laugh-out-loud funny, this is still an amazing movie, filled with great characters and fun situations. I’m giving The Pact 4 out of 4 cigars, it’s a movie that I can see myself sitting down with again when I’m in a particularly bad mood, it would definitely cheer you up.
