The Ten Commandments (2006) – By Jason S. Lockard

You say the movie The Ten Commandments and the first thing that comes to people’s minds is Cecil B. Demille’s classic featuring Charlton Heston, but in 2006 RHI entertainment produced another telling of this biblical account and this is the DVD we are going to look at here.

The Ten Commandments is the story of a Hebrew boy named Moses (Dougray Scott) saved from Pharaoh’s destructive hand by his own daughter and raised as an Egyptian. He flees Egypt and than hears the call of Jehovah to lead his people out of Egyptian slavery. Plagues, parting of the Red Sea, miracles, judgments and eventually The Law (10 Commandments). This mini-series follows the same path as it’s predecessor.

This mini-series boasts great acting, a great story (which how can it not be, it’s from the bible) and pretty decent special effects. Now is this film on a par with Demille’s classic; of course not, but it has a charm all it’s own and it’s worth a viewing because it is a retelling of one of the greatest biblical stories ever.

This DVD features the complete 3 hour mini-series in widescreen format and in 5.1 surround sound. Bonus features include closed captioned feature for the hearing impaired and a Making of feature. This is a really nice release.

So if of biblical films and you want to see a good mini-series I suggest you pick this on up. To find out how to get a copy for yourself visit or your local DVD provider and pick up a copy today.
