The Twilight Zone: Essential Episodes (1959-1964) – By Jason S. Lockard

Rod Serling brought us one of the most memorable series ever to grace our television screens. Never has a show left such an indelible mark in the memories of the viewer. Now with the 55th anniversary upon us RLJ Entertainment and Image Entertainment releases a brand new 2 disc DVD set of the essential episodes.

This set includes 17 of the absolute best episodes of the five season run of this series. The episodes that stand out to me (all are great though) are; Time Enough at Last: A bank teller, Henry Bemis, longs for time alone to read books. He gets his wish. The Eye of the Beholder: A disfigured woman undergo experimental treatments to attempt to appear “normal.” The Howling Man: A man on a walking trip in Europe comes across a remote monastery with a mysterious prisoner. To Serve Man: 9 foot tall aliens, arrive on Earth with one purpose ‘To Serve Man’. There is also two classic episodes featuring William Shatner Nick of Time and Nightmare at 20,000 Feet.

Each episode in this collection is presented in the original 1.33:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Digital mono. The menus are easy to access and truly are simply the best episodes in this series run. The only downside I see in this collection is that there wasn’t at least one episode from the 4th season the hour long season. Still it is an amazing collection.

So if you want to discover the Twilight Zone or you want to show a friend what they missed, this is the best way to introduce someone to this classic series. I highly recommend you head over to and find out how you can get your copy today!
