The Twilight – Zone Season 2 (1960-1961) – By Jason S. Lockard

We all know the classic opening; "You’re traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound, but of mind; a journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That’s the signpost up ahead — your next stop, the Twilight Zone!" That’s right Rod Serling’s television masterpiece!

I received Image Entertainment’s release of The Second Season of The Twilight Zone and I have to say I was ecstatic! I love this old classic and every year when sci-fi channel would run a marathon I’d be right there.

The second season was filled with 29 half hour episodes featuring stars such as Anges Moorehead, Art Carnet, Buddy Ebsen, Burgess Meredith, Dennis Weaver, Dick York, Don Rickles, William Shatner and many more. Some of th best episodes of this season include; ‘Eye of the beholder’ A disfigured woman anxiously awaits the results of her last-chance plastic surgery. ‘The Night of the meek’ A drunk store shop Santa wishes he could be the real deal. ‘The Rip Van Winkle Caper’ A group of men pull off the biggest heist ever and awake in the future free, but what lies ahead was something they would never have dreamed? ‘Will the real Martian please stand up?’ A Martian slips into a cafe unnoticed! or does he? These are just some of the standouts to me, but there is not a clunker in the lot of this great season of sci-fi entertainment.

The executives at CBS tried a cost cutting measure and suggested Serling shoot on video instead of film and even those that don’t understand the ins and outs of filmmaking can tell the difference between the two. This 5 DVD set it great audio and video quality. There is no bonus features, but come on your getting 5 discs with 29 full unedited episodes in pristine quality. Who could ask for anything more.

So if you enjoy the weird and strange; The Twilight Zone is just classic and you can’t find the second season any more reasonable than $29.98 from Image Entertainment. So head over to www.WatchImage.com or your local DVD provider and get your copy and take a trip on the second season of this ground breaking series.
