Tuki: Save the Humans #1 & #2 (2014) – By Jason S. Lockard

Award winning cartoonist Jeff Smith creator of the amazing book series Boneville and Rasl, now takes us back in time to the stone age, with an reluctant African warrior known as Tuki. Originally a web comic Tuki now gets the print release a comic like this truly deserves.

I received the first two issues of Tuki which takes place two million years ago, when the ice age gripped the earth, trapping all moisture in the polar ice caps and thus causing drought in the world. Tropical jungles became dusty grasslands, and all living creatures struggled to survive. Tuki is the first human to leave Africa, but he just wants to be left alone. On his journey he meets a mysterious shaman who gives him a warning. Tuki ignores the warning and comes face to face with a sabre tooth tiger and an angry giant!

Jeff Smith knows how to tell a story! The artwork and colors make you feel like your right there with Tuki. The pacing and action with just the right touch of humor makes TUKI an enthralling story that you just can’t wait to read what’s coming next! I’ve read great comics in my time from great writers, but Jeff is up there with some of the best!

If you loved Jeff Smith’s book or if you’ve never read anything of Jeff Smith. I highly recommend you head over to www.Boneville.com and pick up a print copy of Tuki and check out other stuff from Jeff! He knows how to tell a story!
