Vexed Series 1 (2012) – By Jason S. Lockard

I recently received the first series or "season" of the British police comedy-drama entitled Vexed. Vexed was created by Howard Overman, and in this "season" Lucy Punch stars as D.I. Kate Bishop who is dedicated, efficient and determined, whereas her partner D.I. Jack Armstrong (Toby Stephens), is lazy and disorganized. This is a combination is bound for bickering, bantering and lots of fun. In the first episode, when three single women are murdered and the only link is their Loyalty program purchases, Kate is set up as a potential victim to flush out the killer. It only get crazier from there.

The story of this series is really good, but Vexed was filled with course language and sexual content and for me it just felt unnecessary. It could have been an awesome series for parents to sit down with their teenagers and watch a great crime drama with a little mix of fun ala Colombo, but with all the adult themes it is only for adults.

This DVD includes all three hour long episodes of the first series. The video and audio quality are very good, but of course your talking a 1996 series. Than the bonus features include promotional trailers and photo galleries. While I can’t say I was a huge fan of these episodes, I do have to say if you like funny, British police dramas you may want to pick up a copy of this one. Head on over to for more details.
