When Time Becomes a Woman (2013) – By Brian Morton

Time travel stories can be confusing and sometimes hard to accomplish on a low budget. But, Ahmad Alyaseer, a new filmmaker from Jordan, has managed to put one together, called When Time Becomes a Woman, that’s pretty darn good.

A man meets a woman on the deserted edge of an ocean. He’s been searching for her for year, and finally he’s found her. Why was he looking? Well, it seems that the earth has been decimated by a virus released by a scientist trying to free his country from invaders. But, in doing so, accidentally released it into the population and it got out of control!

If I go into too much detail about this movie, it would ruin the ending for you, let me just say that this is one of the most unusual sci-fi movies that I’ve ever seen. There’s no special effects, there’s no big action set pieces, there’s just two people, standing in a desolate background telling a story…but it manages to work! You’re slowly drawn in to the story, and, in the end, you’re left wondering what might be next!

Now, it’s not a perfect film, it’s a bit long, and gets a bit slow in places, there’s only two characters and they walk and talk for over an hour telling the story, so it’s not what any movie goer is used to, and it starts to feel a bit tedious after about an hour, I felt that it could have been a bit shorter than it was and still drawn me in. I’m giving When Time Becomes a Woman 3 out of 4 cigars. It’s not perfect, but stick with it. It ends in a pretty cool way! Find out more over at https://www.facebook.com/WhenTimeBecomesAWoman.
