Worth (2013) – By Brian Morton

I’ve seen a lot of movies and TV shows that have kidnapping as part of the plot. So, when I saw that the new movie from Nic Barker, Worth, used kidnapping as a plot point, I have to admit I was nervous. But, Mr. Barker did himself proud here!

Worth is the story of a couple who have kidnapped the daughter of a rich man, the problem is that the rich man isn’t too eager to pay off, which leads to one of the most interesting endings to a short film I’ve seen this year.

I won’t give it away, because it’s totally worth (get it…worth) your time. Clocking in at just over 17 minutes, Worth is one of the best written, best acted and best looking shorts I’ve seen in quite some time. I’m giving Worth 4 out of 4 cigars for it’s great look and for it’s very cool story. This is a short that I’d love to see expanded into a longer form movie, giving us a bit more detail and background on these interesting characters.
